The brand name FUSO first appeared in 1932 in association with the release of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ first commercial bus – it was seven metres long, carried 38 passengers and was commissioned to transport the workers of the Japanese railway network who subsequently proposed the ‘FUSO’ name. In 2006 FUSO became part of the Daimler Truck Group. Owing to its history developing low-emission powertrains, FUSO’s headquarters in Japan quickly became Daimler’s global development centre for hybrid technology.
