Let’s take a look at new electric vans poised to shake up the LCV market

There was once a time where business owners and van drivers were short of options if they wanted to explore an electric van lease.

There is now a growing appetite among van drivers to make the switch to electric and as the market expands, there are more options than ever before.

The LCV sector still has some way to go to catch up with the electric car market, but there are now an array of exciting electric vans hitting our roads.

No matter the shape or size you require, there will be an electric van for you.

There are many reasons why your business might want to consider electric van leasing. An electric van can support your business in its ambition to reduce its carbon footprint, save money on costs and increase operational efficiency.

With many exciting models set to launch in 2023, we're taking a closer look at some of the electric vans we can expect to see over the next 12 months and beyond.

Arrival electric van

Arrival Van

One of the most exciting electric van manufacturers around right now. Arrival are promising a new era of electrification, with greener, lighter, more efficient vehicles.

The Arrival Van is a large electric van that will be competing with the likes of the Ford E-Transit and Mercedes-Benz eSprinter. Battery dependent, it can have a claimed range of up to 211 miles.

Van designs don’t come more refined and minimalist than the Arrival Van, with a large 15.6-inch Tesla-esque touchscreen dominating the cabin space.

Arrival are certainly a manufacturer to watch. They promise to put zero waste into landfill, build vehicles that are accessible to all and employ locally to develop and build up communities. Their approach to electric mobility goes beyond vehicles.

It had been suggested early Arrival Vans could land in 2023, but a shift in focus towards the American market could delay their arrival in the UK. However, they remain one to watch.

BYD ETP3

If you need a small electric van that will be practical, versatile and efficient, the BYD ETP3 is going to tick a lot of boxes.

Powered by a 44.9 kWh battery, the ETP3 is the latest electric van to come out of the large Chinese carmaker.

The ETP3 may be small in size, but it won’t compromise on performance. Its 3.5 cubic metres of cargo space and 780kg payload gives a good space to work with.

Its claimed range is 145 miles from a single charge and competitive charging times allow you to recharge from 20-100% in just 30 minutes from a 50kW DC charger.

If you’ve never heard of BYD, there are plenty of reasons why they should be taken seriously in the EV sector. They claim they are the ‘first and only automotive manufacturer to produce its own batteries, motors and motor control system.’ Expect big things from BYD in the coming years.

Mercedes-Benz Citan

The Mercedes-Benz eCitan will be based largely on the combustion engine Citan (pictured)

Mercedes e-Citan

The Mercedes-Benz Citan has been one of the most trusted small vans on the market for many years and there are plans to release an electric version.

It has been confirmed that a Mercedes-Benz eCitan is in the works, but at this stage it remains unclear when we can expect to see one in the UK.

Rivalling the likes of the Renault Kangoo and the Nissan Townstar, the eCitan will thrive in urban environments.

Delivering a claimed range of up to 176 miles, the eCitan will deliver efficient inner-city driving.

It will be practical too and recoup up 80% of its charge in just 35 minutes.

Available in Crew and Panel formats, there are no confirmed timelines for the eCitan to arrive in the UK.

Mercedes have enjoyed a successful initial venture in the electric LCV market, with the brilliant eSprinter and eVito
